WHAT TO DO BEFORE & AFTER YOUR BROW SERVICE

small details make a big difference

Ultimately, what we have found is that having the right pre-care and aftercare routine is ESSENTIAL in producing & maintaining desired results. Below we have outlined the most important steps to take to ensure you love your look!

THE PREP:

6 weeks prior to your appointment:

  • Discontinue Retina, retinol, chemical peels, laser treatments, chemical exfoliants, hydroquinone, steroids

3 weeks prior to your appointment:

  • Discontinue botox

  • No facials

1 week prior to your appointment:

  • Do not pick/tweeze/wax/thread/perform electrolysis

  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face

  • Do not tint your eyebrows.

  • Do not work out the day of the procedure

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E (they are natural blood thinners)

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo

  • Do not consume coffee the morning of your service

  • Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood)

24 hours prior to your appointment:

IT’S ALL IN THE AFTERCARE:

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Your permanent makeup WILL appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process.

The day of the treatment: Absorb

After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 30 minutes for the first 3 hours until the oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents the hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

Days 1-7: Wash

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build-up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

  • Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

Days 1-7: Moisturize (Dry skin only)

Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. NEVER put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

*If you have oily, or combination skin, skip this step.

  • It is possible to experience redness and swelling up to 48 hours after the procedure

  • The treated area will appear much darker and bold due to the oxidation process during the healing period

  • As the area heals it will become dry and itchy

  • As the pigment film starts to flake off DO NOT pick, scratch, itch or pull off any of the areas which are peeling

  • Choosing to pick at flakes and peeling areas will pull out pigment, and result in spots left without any pigment or in some cases scarring

  • As the area continues to heal, a softer more natural result will be revealed underneath

Please note that within the first 4 weeks the amount of pigment that you see can seem very faint. It may seem like the pigment has been lost; please be advised that as the skin regenerates the new skin can in some cases hide the hair strokes completely. You must allow the full healing time of 4 - 6 weeks to see the true color and result.

Extra tips for a smooth and easy recovery:

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

  • No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Important note about showering:

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
