WHAT TO DO BEFORE & AFTER YOUR EYELINER SERVICE

Ultimately, what we have found is that having the right pre-care and aftercare routine is ESSENTIAL in producing & maintaining desired results. Below we have outlined the most important steps to take to ensure you love your look!
THE PREP:
6 weeks prior to the service:
Discontinue Retin-A, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and any chemical exfoliant or "brightening" skincare products. (Once your eyeliner has fully healed, you must cover your tattoo area with VASELINE prior to the use of these products to prevent premature fading).
Discontinue Latisse and any other lash growth serum
Two weeks prior to the service:
Do not tan or have a sunburned face
Do not have any type of facial
One week prior to the service:
Avoid Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), "Hair, Skin, Nail" supplements (they are natural blood thinners)
Remove eyelash extensions
* It is recommended to begin taking Arnica and/or bromelain one week prior to procedure.
24 hours prior to the service:
In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit
Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before your tattoo
Do not consume coffee the morning of your service. (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea!)
Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood)
If you wear contacts, please do not wear them to your appointment and refrain from wearing them for a minimum of 24 hours after procedure is finished.
Arrive WITHOUT any eye makeup or eyelashes on
IT’S ALL IN THE AFTERCARE:
HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER? WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?
Your permanent makeup WILL appear darker and bigger than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process.
First 24-48 Hours:
Do not wear contact lenses during the procedure or for 24 hrs after.
Have sunglasses available. Eyes may be light sensitive or even dilated immediately after. The sunglasses are also handy for hiding puffy eyes.
Take Tylenol as necessary for discomfort
You may apply a clean ice pack (which must be protected with a wet barrier film of paper toweling, towel or cloth) for 10-minute intervals for the first 48 hours. Ice may be applied every hour or so, if desired. Do not put ice directly on area.
Days 1-14:
Refrain from wearing makeup on or around the eyes for a minimum of 7 days
NO underwater swimming for 7 days to avoid a bacterial infection
Avoid pools, saunas, steam rooms, steamy showers, and hot baths for 7 days
Apply ointment with clean fingers twice daily for 10 days after cleaning. No scrubbing or rubbing.
Do not use an eyelash curler for 2 weeks. Clean eyelash curler with alcohol prior to using.
Refrain from eyelash extensions for a minimum of 2 weeks post your eyeliner service.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure. Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyper-pigmentation and scarring.
Extra tips for a smooth and easy recovery:
Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.
Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color. Itching is normal.
No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
Lubricating refresher drops may be used if eyes feel dry or irritated
Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.
DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.
Important note about showering:
Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.
